Summary of a meeting held on 22nd February 2011

This is a summary of the regular meeting of the Trustees.  The full minutes are confidential.  This summary is posted for your interest and information only. In attendance: Chris & Heidi Cate, Norman Wright, Kerry Burchinshaw, Jacky Pett

Apologies: Lucinda Leonard, Kevin Francis

  • Big Lottery Reaching Communities Grant: applications for Reaching Communities hasn’t been overwhelming but that they have no plans to change the eligibility criteria to open it up.  Some ineligible groups are going to write to their MP to express the inadequacies of the system.  Chris will write to Keith Simpson
  • Our entire strategy will need to change in light of the disappointment of Reaching Communities.  We’ve been planning around and waiting for the launch of the grant stream with the view of funding the project from this single stream.
  • It was suggested we consider getting the playground sited now and set our ambitions on a phased scheme, the first phase of which should not exceed what we can afford (say £200K). This would enable us to do fundraising from our own hall and provide a workable space for the community.
  • An application for funding from Broadland Community Partnership was discussed.  This also  needs us to break down the budget in order to ‘package’ opportunities for funders.  For example, target a funding opportunity for companies/trusts that have a particular interest in that part of the project. Aspects of the project that we could possibly start: allotments, community gardens, park/playground, land for car boot sales. We need to know when we will take possession of the new land.
  • The £50K from the Memorial Hall sale is probably ring fenced for capital build of the new village hall, so could not be used for a playground.  Funds from the Norwich Diocese have been received and will be transferred to an appropriate savings product.
  • There is a site meeting 8th March to discuss our housing partner, new plans and strategies, planning permissions and transfers of ownership.
  • Tea Dance:  To date 33 adult and 5 child tickets sold.  Arrangements well in hand.
  • Focus groups: Approximately 16 people had offered their time to help us with the focus groups which was considered a positive response.
  • Chris will try to use the information and notes taken from the visits to compile a report suitable for the business plan.
  • Fete is to go ahead on 27th August – awaiting re-confirmation of venue
  • The Parish Council will soon be having their own website

Next Committee meeting on Tuesday 15th March 2011
